Children Of God
Good afternoon church family,
This Sunday, September 27, we continue That You May Know: Walking in the Light as True Disciples of Jesus Christ. In week six, our message is “Children of God,” based on 1 John 3:1–10.
John begins with astonishment: “See how great a love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God!” Through Jesus Christ, God does more than cancel our guilt. He welcomes believers into his household, gives us his Spirit, and promises that when Christ appears we will see him and be made like him.
That assurance does not make holiness optional. John teaches that a child of God may fall into sin but cannot make peace with it. The new birth produces a growing family likeness: repentance instead of self-defence, righteousness instead of lawlessness, and practical love instead of an empty profession. We are not loved because we resemble Christ; we are being made to resemble Christ because, in him, we are loved.
Please join Corinne and me in the church basement at 9:30 for a time of prayer and reflection.
Come ready to worship, receive the Father’s assurance, and ask how his family likeness can become more visible in us. We look forward to being together.
Grace and peace,
Christian & Corinne
